Mumbai: The education department has extended the deadline for admission, after knowing that a large number of students are left out for admission in the city. As per the sources, approx 45,000 students are yet to get admission.
Presently, 76,527 students have taken admission of the total 1, 23,802 students allotted admission in the first list. V K Wankhede, Deputy Director of School Education said that many of these students took admission in minority and management quota. This could be one of the reasons they failed to take admission in the first merit list.

The education department has put additional efforts to help out students secure a seat in FYJC. According to Madhavi Pethe, the core committee member for online admissions, circulars had been sent to all colleges asking them to give a provisional admission to students who have got wrong preferences of stream. Unaided colleges have been asked to get a token money of Rs 500 to R 1000 for provisional admissions.
The fees will not be blocked if these students get a better seat in the second or third round. According to the statistics provided by the education department, 2,022 students were rejected and 190 admissions were cancelled. With the closing of the last day of admission in the first list, any students who has not secured will be out of the admission process.
