Govt Denies 80% Cut Off For IIT Joint Entrance Examination (JEE)

New Delhi: Just a day after the announcement of 80% cut off for appearing in the IIT Joint Entrance Examination (JEE), HRD Minister, Kapil Sibal denies his statement.

Mr Sibal said that it was the IITs prerogative to fix the weightage to be given to the Class XII exam. Presently, the eligibility criteria for JEE is 60% marks in Class XII. Mr Sibal further mentioned that he was misquoted on Tuesday, to create the impression that he wanted to raise the eligibility cut-off for the IIT entrance exam to 80%. He also issued a written statement, making it clear that the eligibility criteria to appear in JEE are decided by the IITs themselves.
