Tiruchi: Indian Institute of Management (IIM) of Tamil Nadu is yet another addition to the league of IIM's across India. It would be among the six new IIMs established by the Government of India during the XIth plan in the country. IIM Tamil Nadu is to be functional from the academic session 2009 at Tiruchi.
Presently, the proposed IIM will start its academic activities from temporary location in Magneto Hydro Dynamics campus on the premises of Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL). The anticipated institute will function in the temporary location till full-fledged infrastructure is created on the 200 acre permanent site allotted within the premises of Bharathidasan University. The Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) is also very keen to accord a functional status to the IIM-Tiruchi. The proposed IIM at Tiruchi will function under the supervision of IIM-Bangalore.
