After being marred by a series of computer crashes at many exam centers of the first-ever online CAT Exam, the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) are planning to extend the number of days for conducting the examination, from 10 to 20, for the upcoming year. Samir Barua, Director of IIM Ahmedabad, told the reporters yesterday that the institute is planning to extend the number of days for the online CAT Exam 2010, with a view to reduce the capacity burden.
As far as this year’s CAT Exam is concerned, for the candidates who were unable to take the test (that commenced on November 28, 2009), the time period for appearing in the exam has been extended by one more day, by the IIMs and Prometric - the agency that conducts the test. As per the official figures, as many as 2.15 lakh candidates, out of the 2.42 lakh students who had registered for taking the exam this year, have so far appeared in online CAT Exam 2009. Nearly 20000 students, who missed their test this year, are expected to appear in the exam tomorrow.
