New Delhi: Indian Institute of Technology Punjab (IIT-P) will commence the 2009 session from its new campus in Roopnagar (formerly Ropar), around 60 km from Chandigarh.
After a year of parenting at the IIT Delhi (IIT-D), the institute will start functioning with last year's batch and the new batch, of around 240 students in three disciplines, from its new campus.
Surendra Prasad, IIT-D Director, said that initially, the institute will start operation with 11 teachers and around 15 professors of IIT-D will continue to help them in taking classes. He further mentioned that though the institute is starting out of a polytechnic building, the facilities are not bad. The institute’s campus is well equipped with facilities like hostels, classrooms and laboratories.
