Mohali: Indian Institute of Punjab (IIT) will begin its classes from its temporary campus at Women's Polytechnic, Ropar from August 20. With the beginning of IIT, the state would touch new heights of achievement in the field of education. The admission-related counseling for the same was held at IIT-Delhi on July 19 and 20 and the campus would be shifted to Ropar after the counseling gets over.
S R Kale - IIT Punjab's Dean (Undergraduate Studies) said that arrangements to launch the campus at Ropar have been completed and laboratories are also being upgraded. Moreover, according to Tejinder Kaur, Punjab's Secretary (Technical Education and Industrial Training), the government has offered with all the essential facilities to ensure smooth functioning of the campus without any problems.
The first-year classes are being held at IIT Delhi and students that are studying there will be transferred for the second year. Also, a four-year B Tech programme will be offered in three branches Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. The initial strength will be 40 students for each of the branches.
