New Delhi: Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) will start a new dental college from the upcoming academic session 2009. The Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry last week issued a letter of intent for the establishment of a new dental college in the name of Faculty of Dentistry on the Jamia campus.
Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) program classes is likely to commence from mid August with an annual intake of 50 students. Students will be selected for the BDS program on the basis of written test followed by an interview. The entrance test is likely to be conducted in mid July. Admission notification for the BDS will soon be announced by the university.
Faculty of Dentistry introduced will be the ninth faculty at Jamia. It has 29 faculty members, along with the requisite number of paramedic, technical and sanitary staff as required by the Dental Council.
