Karnataka: Good news for the music and dance lovers. The proposed Karnataka State Music University would start functioning from the next year. The karnataka music university is likely to be set up at Mysore, and would be among the few of its kind.
The proposed university would be the third music university in the country after the Indira Gandhi Sangeet and Kala Vikas University at Khairaghad in Madhya Pradesh and Bhatkhande University of Music in Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh. The University would offer different courses in music and dance at undergraduate and postgraduate level from the next academic year. Hanumanna Nayaka Dorai, Special Officer of the proposed Music University, said that the State Government has allotted an amount of Rs 5 crore for the setting up of the music university.
