Mumbai: The Education Department of Maharashtra has ordered junior colleges to increase the intake of the students. The orders have been issued in favor of the students who are yet to get admission. Apart from that the department has also assured to approve extra divisions in the colleges.
N B Chavan, Assistant Director, Secondary Education, Mumbai region said that all the colleges in the city has been asked to admit extra students. A circular in this regard have been circulated by the Department of Education to all the colleges across the city.
With the release of the second merit list 20 percent extra students, beyond the available seats, were already admitted. The order came after colleges objected the arbitrary allotment of seats in excess of their capacity.City colleges are not happy with the order issued by the education department. Moreover, the colleges are in doubt regarding the additional divisions, whether they would be aided or not.
