Hyderabad: National Institute of Technology, Warangal (NIT-W), on Wednesday, i.e. December 16, 2009 signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Malardalen University (MDH), Sweden. The MoU was signed byY.V. Rao, Director of NIT-W, and Christer Norstrom, Vice-President of MDH, Sweden. The main purpose of the MoU is to encourage collaboration in innovation, design and engineering in embedded systems, real-time systems and software engineering.
As per sources, MDH is one of Sweden's largest universities, has more than 13,000 students and offers 60 programmes and 750 courses. NIT-W, which is also one of the top engineering colleges in India, boasts of 4,200 students, including 1,400 M Tech students and 300 PhD scholars. According to Mr Rao, the collaboration would facilitate programmes and activities in basic and applied research, education and training as well as technology and information transfer.
