No Upper Age Limit in West Bengal JEE

Kolkata: West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board (WBJEEB) has done away with the restraint on the upper age limit on the candidates appearing for Bengal Joint Engineering Entrance (JEE) for admission into engineering and medical colleges of West Bengal.

Speaking about the decision, Siddharth Datta, Chairman of WBJEEB, said that there is no upper age limit prescribed by the Medical Council of India (MCI) or the All India Engineering Entrance Examination, (AIEEE). Therefore the board has decided to remove any upper age limit.

As per new rules, the students who have attained the age of 17 years are eligible to appear in the JEE examination, but there is no restriction on the upper age limit. In the previous year, the board fixed the upper age limit to 24 years, for both medical and engineering entrance examination in the state. The decision taken by the board regarding the fixing of the upper age limit last year did not find favor with the students. So, the board has decided to eliminate the criteria of the upper age limit.
