New Delhi: Doctors at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), the premier medical institute of nation, after an online exam would be comprehensible to teach ‘Emergency-Care Medicine’ at the postgraduate level. As per sources, AIIMS, after its tie-up with the University of South Florida, would get its online exam designed from the university.
Doctors with postgraduate degree in Medicine, Surgery, Paediatrics, Anaesthesia, Orthopaedics, Pulmonary Medicine, Gynaecology and Obstetrics are considered eligible to take the exam. Those who are interested and fulfill the eligibility criteria can register themselves online from December 15 to 20, 2009, along with the submission of MCI registration certificate, a passport size photograph, post graduation certificate with the application form at the AIIMS.
As per sources, the online test includes 50 multiple-choice questions. A minimum score of 70% is mandatory to clear the first stage of the examination. The final exam is scheduled to be held on October 5 each year, wherein the candidate will have to answer 200 multiple-choice questions and need a score of 175 to qualify. Moreover, doctors after clearing the exam are also eligible for a year-long development programme.
The ‘Emergency-Care Medicine’ programme is a specialized branch of medicine of the Medical Council of India (MCI), recognized as recently as July 22, 2009, as a distinct entity. Also, the course would be introduced for the first time in the country at the postgraduate level, from the next academic session.
