New Delhi: University Grant Commission (UGC) has allotted funds for the 15 newly established Central Universities for the financial year 2009-10. UGC fund would help in setting in motion the activities of the new institutions, which would offer various courses from the ensuing academic session.
Meeting of the Vice-Chancellors of the central varsities was held recently to discuss their curricular activities, disciplines and budget. The commission has decided to grant an amount of one to two crore to each university, in order to help them meet their requirements. The committee plans to appoint a standing committee, which would decide the discipline and stream of program to be offered by these newly established varsities.
The proposed committee would comprise of vice chancellors of some of these universities. They would study and analyze the significance and practicability of the courses, and the disciplines to be started by them. Moreover, the commission also decided to sanction one professor, two associate professor and three assistant professors for each course to be offered by these universities
