UGC Allots Rs 1.5 Crore Fund to Kerala College

Kochi: University Grants Commission (UGC) has allotted an amount of Rs 1.5 crore to the Maharaja College. The amount was allotted to the college to accelerate its academic and research activities.
 
As per the sources, out of the total amount allotted by UGC, Rs 50 lakh would be used for research programmes. Eleven departments on the campus have been functioning as research centres. Moreover, the allocation for undergraduate programmes is Rs16 lakh, while Rs 83 lakh would be used for 14 projects.
 
University Grants Commission (UGC) is an apex body of Government of India. It was founded with an aim for determining and maintaining the standards of teaching, examination and research in universities. Further, it also perform various other task, such as advising the Central and State governments on the measures necessary for improvement of university education.
