New Delhi: Following widespread violence, all the universities of Punjab and Haryana have postponed their examinations, scheduled to be conducted on May 26 and 27. Both the states have witnessed an outbreak of anger and riots due to killing of a Sikh saint at Vienna, Austria.
Panjab University, Chandigarh has announced that all the examinations of the university scheduled for May 26, 27 and 28 have been postponed and the new dates would be made available on the university website www.puchd.ac.in. Punjabi University, Patiala postponed its exams to be held on May 26 and 27. Students would be informed later about the new schedule of the exams. Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar has postponed its annual and semester (theory) examinations scheduled for May 26 and 27. Dr Gurnam Singh, in-charge of examinations, said all examinations to be held on these dates in all departments of the university in Amritsar, regional campuses at Jalandhar and Gurdaspur, constituent colleges and colleges affiliated to the university stand postponed. Punjab Technical University (PTU) Jalandhar has also postponed the exams that were to be held on May 27, 28 and 29. It was for the third time PTU authorities have postponed the exams. The exams that were to begin on May 8 were put off for May 18 and then for May 26. Sarojini Gautam Sharda, Registrar of PTU, said any further change in the schedule would be communicated to students on the university website www.ptu.ac.in
Baba Farid varsity defers counseling its counseling dates. Shavinder Singh Gill, Vice-Chancellor, Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, said that the counseling for the postgraduate courses scheduled on May 27 has been postponed to May 29. The counseling would be held in the nursing college of the university.
