New Delhi: The All India Management Association (AIMA) New Delhi, the apex body of the CMS (Centre for management service) which conducts the MAT (Management Aptitude Test) all over India, intends to continue both online and paper pencil formats for the test, instead of completely switching over to the online version.
CMS Director V.S. Bejoy, who was in Delhi to take part in a seminar on 'Management education in India - Challenges and Opportunities' organized by Aryans School of Management (ASM) which is a Punjab based management school, said that most of the students prefer the paper pencil format and therefore, continuing the MAT exam in both the formats was decided.
The online format was introduced in September 2009 and since then, the exam was held three times. However, AIMA received a low response with only 10 percent out of the 200,000 students taking up the online test, while rest of them preferring the paper-pencil format.
The Common Admission Test (CAT), which went online last year, was hit by many technical and management problems. However, they still intend to continue with the same format in future. Speaking on the issue, Mr. V.S Bejoy said such an act would mar the prospect of many bright students.
The US firm Prometric developed the Software for the CAT exam, whereas Bangalore-based Company Eduquity developed the software for AIMA (All India Management Association).
The CMS, which conducts The MAT exam four times a year, gives more flexibility to the students. In the recent growth, the Uttarakhand and the Haryana Government have morseled their state level MBA entrance Exam and are taking into consideration the MAT scores for admission to the affiliated colleges. Moreover, students in a large number from Bihar are also appearing for MAT, every year.
Mr. V.S Bejoy further said in his statement that they have filed a memorandum and also appealed to the Punjab Government to consider the MAT scores for admission to various management colleges.
