Panaji: On Wednesday i.e. on September 15, 2010, Eduardo Faleiro, the Commissioner of Goa’s Non-Resident Indian (NRI) Cell, has said that a crash course would be offered in Arabic for Goan job aspirants, who would be venturing to the Gulf countries. The state government's overseas employment agency would conduct the course beginning in October.
Mr Faleiro has said that the course will be in spoken Arabic. The course is being introduced with an intention of improving communication skills of job seekers in Arab world. Moreover, the language is spoken in 24 countries from North Africa to Middle East and beyond.
In addition, he also said that the language and communication is a main barrier for job seekers in the Gulf. He said that with this crash course, they will be able to get their way around the city and converse functionally, which is essential when one is in a foreign land. According to data available with the Goa NRI cell, the state ranks second only to Kerala in job-related migration to Arabic-speaking Gulf countries.
