Punjab: Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) has permitted Aryans Business School (ABS), located in Nepra village of Punjab, about 25 km from Chandigarh, to accept Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) score in order to admit qualified candidates in its academy, to study various management courses offered by it. The institution is first of its kind in the state.
The information has been revealed by ABS chairman Anshu Kataria on Sunday evening i.e. March 21, 2010. He added that ABS is the only private institution imparting management education to get consent from GMAC, to accept scores of GMAT. He further added that the step is of great significance, considering the eagerness of GMAC in commencing an office in India as well, after the one in the US and the UK.
ABS chairman seemed to be content with the fact that decision has opened the option of a GMAT-affiliated institution in Punjab as well. The aspiring candidates belonging to north India, especially Punjab, now need not go to prominent cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Pune and Ahmedabad, in order to study management program from GMAT-affiliated institution.
Increasing interest among the Indian MBA aspirants appearing in GMAT could be noticed. Statistics reveals that in 2009, over 265,000 management aspirants appeared for GMAT across the world, out of which more than eight per cent of them were native of India. As per sources, GMAT score are accepted in order to admit aspirants in several management courses, offered in over 1,900 institutions across 81 countries.
