Bajaj Group To Finance The Setting Up of Engineering College in Wardha

Nagpur: Soon, an engineering degree is likely to be set up in Wardha district in Vidarbha region of Maharashtra. The proposed engineering college will be set up with financial assistance from the Pune-based industrial giant - Bajaj Group.
 
Sanjay Bhargava, Shiksha Mandal General Secretary, has announced that the college will be managed by Wardha-based Shiksha Mandal, which was founded by late Jamnalal Bajaj, and of which, Auto Chairman Rahul Bajaj is the President. He also added that the college would conduct courses in electrical, mechanical, electronics and computer engineering. The college would start functioning from the academic year 2012-2013, and would have an intake of 60 for each of the four branches.
 
Mr Bhargava has also mentioned that the building for the college would have 1.50 lakh sq ft of floor space, and was being constructed on 21 acres of land in the Panchatila area of Wardha. In addition, the college would be named simply ‘Bajaj College of Engineering’, and would be affiliated to Rashtrasanta Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University.
 
Furthermore, as per the tradition in all the educational institutions of Shiksha Mandal, admission to the new engineering college would be strictly on merit and the fees charged would be as per the government's specification. As per sources, Shiksha Mandal was founded by the late Jamnalal Bajaj in 1914, and runs seven colleges, of which six are aided by the government.
