New Delhi: Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will launch a new international ‘child-centric’ curriculum from April 1. The announcement was made by a CBSE official, who also claimed that the new curriculum is going to be more flexible than the existing syllabus.

Initially, the new CBSE curriculum will be implemented in class I and class IX from next month and later to other standards in three years. The new syllabus which has been called a ‘soft diplomacy’, ‘reaching out’ and building a brand focuses to help the students seeking admission in foreign university and will also facilitate admission for those wanting to study in India.

Vineet Joshi, the CBSE Chairperson has informed that CBSE is working out some system of examination that would qualify students for seeking admission in universities, though assessment will be based on continuous and comprehensive evaluation (CCE), the grading system adopted in the Indian schools. He also added that keeping in mind the guidelines of National Council for Educational Research and Training (NCERT), the new curriculum will give more attention on world geography and regional issues.
