CPIFT To Offer India's First Degree Course in Films and TV

Ahmedabad: City Pulse Institute of Film and Television (CPIFT) will be the India's first institute offering degree courses in film and television. The institute is all set to offer bachelors and masters degrees in various aspects of film making including direction, script writing, cinematography, production designing, audiography and production management. The courses are scheduled to commence from June, this year.
 
As per sources, the announcement was made today i.e. on April 22, 2010, in an occasion organized for the launch of the degree courses in film and television. While speaking on the occasion, Govind Nihalani, noted film director and also the mentor of CPIFT said that the entertainment industry is growing very rapidly and it is witnessing rapid changes in the technology and other areas. The main function of the institute would be to prepare the students to face the challenges of the entertainment industry. He also added that the pass outs from the institute would have the confidence of shouldering any responsibility pertaining to entertainment industry.
 
In addition, I S Mathur, institute director mentioned that CPIFT is affiliated to Hemchandracharya University of North Gujarat. Further, the institute was being governed by a council that includes Mr Nihalani, famous architect B V Doshi, cinematographer Manmohan Shetty and singer Ila Arun. Moreover, Mr Mathur added that the institute would have some eminent professionals as the visiting and guest faculty.
