DDU Selected For Center’s Community Development through Polytechnics Scheme

Ahmedabad: Dharamsinh Desai University (DDU) Nadiad is one among the 19 non-government polytechnics, which have been selected for the implementation of the Central Government's scheme of Community Development through Polytechnics (CDTP).
 
Dr H M Desai, Vice-Chancellor of DDU, has said that it is a great privilege for DDU that it has been selected for implementation of the scheme. The programmes for the implementation will be commenced from June this year. He also added that it is the only non-government polytechnic from Gujarat, selected for the purpose by the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resources Development.
 
As per sources, the scheme is to be implemented through 1,000 polytechnic institutes during the 11th Five Year Plan. In the first phase of its implementation, 124 polytechnics from all over India have been selected. At national level, the number of non-government polytechnics figuring in the list stands at 19 and DDU is one of them.
 
Other than the non-government polytechnics, which are selected for the CTDP scheme, four government polytechnics from the state have also been short listed. The Central Government will allot a non-recurring one-time grant of Rs 20 lakh and recurring annual grant of Rs 17 lakh to each polytechnic for the implementation of the scheme.
