Tiruchirapalli: Dr J C Kumarappa Institute of Rural Technology and Development invites applications for admission into various short-term skill training programmes, which will commence from April 9, 2010. It is an institutional training centre of Khadi and Village Industries' Commission, functioning from Gandhiniketan Ashram at T Kallupatti in Madurai. The last date to apply for all these programmes is April 3, 2010.
In a press release held today i.e. on March 26, 2010, it was announced that the short term skill training programmes comprise of six-month training in Footwear and Leather Goods Manufacturing; five-month training in Tailoring and Embroidery; four-month training in Servicing of Electronics and Electronic Equipments; three-month training in Welding and Fabrication, Fancy Leather and Rexin Goods making, Footwear and Leather Goods making, Motor winding, and Cutting and Tailoring; two-month training in Fitter, Plumber and Pump Mechanism, Two-Wheeler Mechanism, Refrigerator and A/C Mechanism, Exercise Book Manufacturing, Toilet and Laundry Soap Making, Hand Made Paper Conversion (notebooks, file, cover and carry bag), and Fruits and Vegetable Processing; one-month training in Spices and Masala making; one-week training in Simple Chemicals (cleaning powder making, detergent powder, washing powder), and Fruits Jam, Squash and Pickles making; and four-day training in Bio Manure and Vermi Compost.
Further, the release also mentioned that men and women in the age group of 18 to 35 years with a pass in standards VIII and X are eligible to apply. Free hostel accommodation is provided to all outstation candidates, and KVIC certificates will be awarded. Moreover, the trained persons will get the required information and guidance, besides trade project report to set up their own units availing bank loan with government subsidy. Interested candidates can obtain the applications and prospectus by sending Rs 35 by money order. The application with all details along with photocopies of the certificates, passport side photo, and self-addressed and stamped envelope should reach the Principal of the institute before April 3, 2010.
