Foreign Institutions Bill 'Anti-people': SFI

Kochi: Students' Federation of India (SFI)  has calls the Foreign Educational Institutions Bill as 'anti-people'. SFI is of the opinion that that it would only facilitate the foreign universities entering to India to just make money.

During a news conference organized to inform about the Central Executive Committee of the federation, Ritabrata Banerjee, General Secretary of SFI, said that these foreign institutions would be like Special Economic Zones (SEZ), which would only be by and for the elite.

Recently, the cabinet has cleared the Foreign Educational Institutions (Regulation of Entry and Operations) Bill, which would soon be discussed in the Parliament. If passed, the Bill would allow foreign universities to open up branches or centers in India.
