Four Maharashtra Universities Get New VCs

Mumbai: On Friday i.e. February 25, 2010, Maharashtra Governor K. Sankaranarayanan, in his capacity as the Chancellor of the state's universities, has appointed new Vice Chancellors (VC) for four universities. As per sources, appointment for the top post have been made in the University of Pune, Shivaji University-Kolhapur, Y.B. Chavan Maharashtra Open University-Nashik and Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Technological University-Raigarh. Further, all the appointments have been made for a period of five years from the date the respective VC assume their charge.
 
R.K. Shevgaonkar, Deputy Director with Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (IIT-B), will be the new Vice Chancellor of University of Pune.
 
Head of Department of Geology in University of Pune, N.J. Pawar has been named as the Vice Chancellor of Shivaji University-Kolhapur
 
The top post of Y.B. Chavan Maharashtra Open University-Nashik will go to former principal of Dr. Ambedkar College, Nagpur, R. Krishnakumar.
 
Director of Laxminarayan Institute of Technology, Nagpur, R.B. Mankar will be the new Vice Chancellor of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Technological University, Raigarh.
