New Delhi: The Government of India is in view of conducting a common entrance test for the Central Universities. It comes in the light of an agreement between the vice chancellors of these universities recommends reform in the present system.
According to the Rajya Sabha, Minister of State for Human Resource Development D. Purandeswari, the Government has decided to work on the modifications in the system of admission to undergraduate and postgraduate level programmes.
Furthermore, she said the discussion was going on the recommendations made by a committee of vice chancellors regarding the Common Entrance Test in central universities and the Government was agreed that the college/institute’s own specific policies of admission places put lots of burden on students as well as on the parents.
Speaking on the modifications, she recommended that the admission to the undergraduate level courses should be determined by marks of the candidates at the 10+2 level and the ranks secured by them in the common national level aptitude test. For the postgraduate level courses, candidates should be selected on the basis of marks at the graduation level and a common test.
