Hyderabad: On Wednesday i.e. August 11, 2010,the Andhra Pradesh High Court (HC) reinstates P Kusuma Kumari as Vice Chancellor (VC) of Sri Krishnadevaraya University (SKU) in Anantapur. However, the Court has directed her not to discharge her duties as VC till the final clearance of the case and upheld the provisional arrangement to run the university.
Justice N Ramamohan Rao made this interim order on the basis that such a severe action was taken even without giving an opportunity to the VC to explain her version. Moreover, the judge said that Kusuma Kumari will be entitled to all benefits and facilities attached to the office of the VC. As per sources, the judge who heard senior counsel C V Mohan Reddy's argument on behalf of Kusuma Kumari and the advocate general D V Sitarama Murthy for the state said that the chancellor's decision in this regard was only official in its scope.
Furthermore, Mr Rao agreed with the petitioner that all the principles of natural justice were violated in her case. He directed the state to furnish her a copy of Justice Hanumanthu Commission report which indicted her. He also mentioned that P Kusuma Kumari should represent her case within 30 days after receiving this copy and the chancellor (governor) shall take a decision on her representation.
