New Delhi: The Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister Kapil Sibal emphasized the need of clarity in education system of India. He underlined the need in a meeting with a delegation of representatives from private higher education institutions.
As per sources, the delegation includes representatives from BITS Pilani, Thapar University and TERI University etc. Further, sources told that the delegation also welcomed the Ministry's suggestions regarding the proposal to set up a National Accreditation Regulatory Authority through legislation introduced in Parliament.
The delegation emphasized that there is a need to differentiate between higher quality institutes and the ordinary institutions. The delegation said that quality institutions should have a different yardstick for them from the rest. The representatives also spoke about the education sector to have access to long term funding at priority landing rates for setting up additional infrastructure.
As per sources, they also requested the government to support research and Doctorate of Philosophy (PhD) programmes in the private sector. The delegation said that the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) could look at some form of a one year MBA programme, as is the practice in some other countries.
