HRD Minister Inaugurates CSIRs Technofest-2010 at IITF

New Delhi: On Sunday i.e. November 14, 2010, the Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister Kapil Sibal inaugurated the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) Technofest-2010. As per sources, the CSIR Technofest-2010 has been organized as a part of India International Trade Fair (IITF).
 
Further, sources told that the CSIR Technofest-2010 has been organized in order to showcase CSIR's proficiency and capability in the field of Science and Technology. Fifteen theme pavilions have been set up in the exhibition, sources added.
 
The theme of the pavilions include Technologies transferred, Technologies available for transfer/commercialization, Relevant knowledge base and expertise, Theme specific programmes for industries, Academicians & research, government officials and general public etc.
 
Kapil Sibal said that the country has achieved affordability and accessibility in important sectors like nutrition, high technology, petro-chemical and engineering and the products, which were imported earlier at a heavy price, have now been produced with the help of CSIR at an affordable price.
 
In addition, Mr. Sibal said that the introduction of vocational courses in school curriculum will provide more employment opportunities. Moreover, he told that efforts were being made by CSIR for converting seawater into drinking water. As per sources, more than 100 industries, which present their partnership with CSIR, will be sharing the event.
 
Further, sources added that the major driving force of the exhibition is on CSIR's role in Science and innovation for transforming India. Science and engineering leadership, Innovative technology solutions, End-to-End technologies in niche areas, Open innovation for inclusive growth, Nurturing talent in trans-disciplinary areas and enabling scientific entrepreneurship will be the power areas of the event, sources added.
