ICAI to Establish a New Center of Excellence in Chennai

Chennai: With the new session of 2010, ICAI has come up with a bright gift for the aspiring CA students of Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The Chairman of Southern India Regional Council (SIRC), Mr. Babu Abraham Kallivayilil, announced that a new centre of excellence of ICAI is going to be set up in Chennai. He briefed further details in a press conference held in Kannur on Monday i.e. March 22, 2010.
 
Mr. Kallivayilil informed the media persons that the proposed centre of excellence of ICAI will have the facility of a help desk, to solve the queries and grievances of the general public and the CA students. For this, a toll free number would be there for help and e-mail facility will also be provided to the students. To make this new centre of excellence more useful, there would be a digital library of two sections, general and subscribed sections. Moreover, a trust is going to be set up that would serve as a general social security fund for the CAs.
 
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) is a statutory body, established under the Chartered Accountants Act, 1949 (Act No. XXXVIII, of 1949). The Body is bestowed with the responsibility of regulating the profession of chartered accountants in India. It centers of excellence are spread across the length and breadth of the country.
