IIM-Calcutta Looking for International Accreditation

Kolkata: Indian Institute of Management-Calcutta (IIM-C) the premier B-school school of India, is looking for international accreditation from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). IIM-C is eyeing an international accreditation in order to attract more foreign students in the coming academic sessions.
 
Shekhar Chowdhury, IIM-C Director in his statement said that they are trying to get the accreditation from an international agency called AACSB, which would help them get more foreign students in future. He also added that once the institute gets the accreditation, it would help the students enjoy global recognition of their degrees and provide an international ranking for the institute. In total, there are 400 odd institutions across the globes that enjoy AACSB accreditation.
 
Further, Mr Chowdhury mentioned that an internal committee, headed by Subir Bhattacharya, had already been formed to look into the whole issue. As per sources, an international pilot team is likely to visit the IIM-C campus in the next two months and they will examine the available infrastructure and faculty in IIM-C. Presently, the institute has only foreign student who is an Israeli national.
