IIT JEE Board Admits Its Mistakes in Questions Paper

New Delhi: Finally, after a sequence of instances occurring in the newspaper regarding the mistakes in the IIT JEE 2010 paper, the organizing committee accepted that the errors reported in the paper were true. However, the committee has asked the candidates not to panic. In addition, the conducting committee assured students that they will take complete responsibility for the mistakes and the errors would have no effect on the evaluation of their performance.

T.S. Natarajan, Chairperson of the IIT- JEE organizing committee, has said that it is true that there were certain minor mistakes in the question paper. He also added that they would like to assure all students that these mistakes would not influence their performance in the paper in any way. These mistakes would be kept in mind while checking the papers.

In addition, Mr Natarajan also admitted the mistakes in the paper, but said that they were just errors in printing. The first error was that the subject names of Mathematics and Physics had been interchanged. Another mistake was that the instructions for Section II of the paper were different for the English and Hindi versions of the paper. Also, some questions were not printed at all in the Hindi version. Further, he also added that they would make sure that such mistakes do not get repeated in the future examinations.
