Illinois University Chancellor Mulls Bilateral Partnerships With IT Companies in India

New Delhi: Professor Robert A. Easter, Chancellor and Provost (Interim), Illinois University, recently visited India. The main agenda of his visit was to discuss and form bilateral partnerships with Information Technology (IT) companies in India. The IT companies include Infosys, Wipro and Tata Consultancy.
 
In addition, Professor Robert A Easter also plans to meet with members of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and the G B Pant University of Agriculture and Technology. As per sources, US President Barack Obama is going to visit India in November.
 
The Chancellor spoke about an agenda for building partnerships between India and the US in several sectors that fits into the Obama-Singh 21st Century Initiative. As per sources, Illinois University and Ministry of Communications and Information Technology are going to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), very soon.

Further, sources told that the above mentioned organizations are going to sign the MoU for the establishment of an Information Technology Research Academy in New Delhi. Moreover, Illinois University will be signing another MoU with ICAR for a research programme that is jointly beneficial.
