New Delhi: Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) University’s India Arab Cultural Centre is all set to organize the second Arab Film Festival. The festival will be commencing from October 25, 2010. The second Arab Film Festival, which will be over on October 27, 2010, will take place in the university premises. The festival will be inaugurated by Khaled El Bakly, the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt.
On October 22, 2010, a press release of the university said that the three-day film fest aims at promoting cross-cultural communication and understanding between Arab countries and the wider academic community. As per sources, nine films will be showcased at the festival.
Further, sources told that the nine films will represent the diversity of the Arab people and their perspectives. Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) University was established at Aligarh in United Provinces, India in 1920. It became a Central University by an act of the Indian Parliament in 1988 by a Special Act of the Parliament.
