Udupi, Karnataka: Karnataka Home Minister Dr V S Acharya stated that the state government has fulfilled the aspirations of the people by passing the bill to set up a Sanskrit University.
Speaking against the allegations imposed by the opposite parties, Acharya cleared that there is no veiled purpose behind the starting of such university because more than 12 states are already running Sanskrit Universities. By defending the Government’s move of banning cow slaughting, he put an example of Jammu and Kashmir, where the act of such kind already exists for last 31 years despite the fact that here minority section is in majority.
He further mentioned the importance of Sanskrit language, as it was the mother of all languages, was extensively used in several Indian and even foreign languages. The countries such as Germany, Japan and United States have conducting research on Sanskrit language and literature.
Dr Acharya also pointed out the state government had asserted about Rs 200 crore to the Department of Kannada and Culture in the current year to increase more Kannada activities in the state.
