The aptitude test and hall ticket (admit card) is applicable only for students who have applied for streams SA, SB and SB+2(SX). Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) programme was started in 1999 by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. The programme was incepted to encourage students of Basic Sciences, Engineering and Medicine to take up research careers in these areas.
The programme aims at identifying and encouraging talented students with aptitude for research. The programme is managed by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc, Bangalore). KVPY is an ongoing programme. It endeavors to help the students to recognize their potential and to make sure that the best scientific talent is tapped for research and development in the country. Generous scholarships are provided (up to the pre-PhD level) to the selected students.
