New Delhi: Master of Commerce (M Com) students, who are enrolled in the south campus colleges of Delhi University, will now have to attend classes in the north campus, while attending their tutorial classes in their respective colleges.
As per the notification from the DU Registrar, the classes for M Com in south campus will be integrated with North Campus, from the upcoming academic session 2010-2011. The classes will be held at the Department of Commerce, North Campus, University of Delhi.
On the other hand, academics for action and development along with group of teachers in the University claim that this notification is illegal. DU Academic Council member and AAD member J. Khuntia said that this is total injustice for the students of south campus colleges, because they will have to go all the way to the north campus to attend their M Com classes.
Mr. Khuntia further indicated that there is a lack of space in the Faculty of Commerce building in the North Campus, because it is already conducting classes for the Master of International Business and Master of Human Resource Development programmes. It would be very difficult for the Faculty to manage classes for 254 students of north campus and 123 from South Campus sitting together.
Mr. Khuntia stated that the Academic Council had already decided in 1993 that the classes for M. Com would remain continued in south campus, in any circumstances.
