Madhya Pradesh: The education department of Madhya Pradesh, together in association with UNICEF, organized a workshop in RCVP Noronha Academy of Administration in Bhopal, in order to acquaint the education department with the Right to Education Act (RTE) and at the same time seek propositions on the draft rules formulated by the state education department, from the stakeholders.
Speaking at a state level workshop here on Sunday i.e. March 21, 2010, the Minister of State for School Education, Archana Chitnis said that the RTE Act will be put into action from April 1, 2010. The Act takes into account compulsory and free education to all its students, till 8th standard.
The Minister emphasized on the need of compulsory education for which she said that it is necessary to make the curriculum interesting, which though a challenge, could be achieved with the contribution, not just from the students, but from the teachers and parents as well.
Presiding over the occasion, Tania Goldner, chief of UNICEF office in Madhya Pradesh, said that this Act would bring a revolution in the education sector. Calling education a constitutional right, principal Secretary of Education Department Snehlata Srivatsva said that this Act is unique.
