Chandigarh: The Haryana State Board of Technical Education (HSBTE) announces that it is mandatory for students seeking admission in diploma courses in Polytechnics to pass in both Maths and Science in Matric examination. Moreover, the Board has also decided that the required pass percentage would be 33% in individual subjects and aggregate, for first and second semester. Also, there would be no change in second and third year.
As per sources, these decisions were taken in the sixth meeting of the Board held under the Chairmanship of Financial Commissioner and Principal Secretary, Technical Education P K Gupta who is also the Chairman of Haryana State Board of Technical Education (HSBTE).
In addition, the Board also approved to give grace marks of 0.5 per cent semester wise and also approved moderation of seven per cent marks. However, after moderation, the total marks should not exceed more than 95 per cent. These grace marks have been given, following the poor results due to teachers strike, State Assembly Elections and also due to other duties assigned to the teachers and tough marking as reflected from the feedback.
While reviewing the issue of HSBTE exams held in December 2009/January 2010, it was decided to initiate disciplinary action against the Principal, Officiating Principal, and Mr Harnek Singh Lecture of KCGPW, Ambala City. However, the examination branch will bring the important issues to the notice of Secretary in future.
