National College Trichy (Tamil Nadu) has been awarded the status of an autonomous institution, by University Grants Commission (UGC).

National College Trichy Awarded Autonomous Status by UGC

Tiruchirapalli: National College Principal Dr Anbarasu, in a Press Release published on Tuesday i.e. March 23, 2010, revealed the decision of University Grants Commission (UGC) granting 'autonomous' status to National College, which is located in Tiruchirapalli/ Trichy, Tamil Nadu. The decision will be effective from the academic session 2010-11.
 
He further added that the decision was the consequence of the satisfaction of the expert committee, which scrutinized the academic abilities, infrastructure and amenities offered by the institution, in last December.
 
Dr Anbarasu also revealed information about the new college committee formed, which comprises of Padma Vibhushan V Krishnamurthy as the President and K Raghunathan as its Secretary.
 
National College Trichy will add new courses like MBA, MCA, MA (History), MSc (Zoology) and Journalism and Mass Communication under its umbrella, soon.
