National Development Council Approves Establishment of World Class Standard Universities

New Delhi: On Wednesday i.e. on November 10, 2010, the Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister Kapil Sibal said that the National Development Council (NDC) has given its approval for establishment of fourteen world class standard universities. He said this in a reply to a question in the Lok Sabha.
 
As per sources, these universities have been planned to be located at Bhubaneswar, Kochi, Amritsar, Greater Noida, Patna, Guwahati, Kolkata, Bhopal, Gandhinagar, Coimbatore, Mysore, Pune, Vishakhapatnam and Jaipur. Further, sources informed that a concept paper finalized by the government is available on the official website: www.education.nic.in.
 
In addition, sources informed that the paper includes the scope for Public Private Partnership (PPP), sources added. The planned universities are to be established across two plan periods of eleventh and twelfth plans, sources added.
