New Delhi: With more focus onvocational training on the Human Resource Development Ministry's agenda, the government has decided to set up new Indian Institutes of Information Technologies under the public-private partnership (PPP) mode.
As per sources, on Wednesday i.e. July 29, 2010, Minister of State in the HRD Ministry, D.Purandeswari in her written reply to the Lok Sabha has said that the government of India has a scheme of setting up new IIITs under PPP mode. She also added that the scheme is yet to receive the cabinet’s approval. Moreover, the location and other details of the new IIITs will depend upon the schemes finally approved.
Presently, India has four IIITs at Allahabad (Uttar Pradesh), Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh), Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh) and Kancheepuram (Tamil Nadu).
