Shillong: Meghalaya Government and IT education and training major NIIT have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The partnership aims to impart job-oriented courses in the field of information technology for the youths of the state.
DP Wahlang, IT Department Commissioner has announced that the courses are likely to be started from April 2010, at affordable cost in four modules. Furthermore, Mr Wahlang said that there would be around 1100 beneficiaries in a year in the joint venture of the state government and the NIIT.
The initiative would benefit poor students in getting employment in corporate as well as government sectors. He mentioned that the estimated budget for this venture is Rs two crore per year. Moreover, AT Mondal, IT Minister of the State has said that process of E Governance in the state is in full swing and it will be completed very soon.
