Hyderabad: The Osmania University Joint Action Committee and Telangana Political Joint Action Committee (T-JACs) have demanded to postpone the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) Group I examinations, which were planned to be held on September 5, 2010. On Wednesday i.e. September 1, 2010, T-JAC insisted the State Government to order APPSC to reschedule the exams date till the government comes to a decision on the demand of 40 percent quota in recruitments for Telangana candidates. The members also demanded the removal of APPSC Chairman Venkataram Reddy, as many corruption charges were pending against him.
As per sources, JAC members declared that the APPSC cannot go ahead with Group-1 examination, without clarifying the quota issue. Further, the JAC leaders said that by refusing the postponement of APPSC G1 exam dates, the APPSC has forced T-JAC to call a meeting at Osmania University. The agenda of the meeting is to decide the future plan of action on the demand of 40 percent quota for candidates from Telangana, who have cleared the Group-1 preliminary exams.
JAC members threatened the government that they would hold a candlelight vigil at all Telangana educational institutions on September 3, 2010, and the government would be responsible for all the consequences. The JACs would announce their final decision after convening a meeting with student bodies on Thursday i.e. September 2, 2010.
