Seven Indian Students Bag Australian Scholarship

New Delhi: The Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID) has selected seven Indian students for the prestigious Australian Leadership Award (ALA) Scholarship. The announcement was made on Tuesday i.e. on September 21, 2010. As per sources, the seven scholarships awarded to the Indian students are part of 205 ALA Scholarships offered globally in 2011.
 
Peter Varghese, Australia's High Commissioner has congratulated the seven outstanding people who have been identified for their potential to provide important policy leadership on their return home. The winners will join the Australian Universities for their postgraduates (PG) studies in the fields like community planning, agricultural development and intellectual property law. Mr Varghese has said that the Australia Leadership Awards express Australia's commitment to developing future leadership and building long-term partnerships with India. He also added that this is a relationship that will be of increasing importance to both countries in the years ahead.
 

Furthermore,Mr Varghese informed that the students will undergo an additional programme that will enable them to strengthen their leadership skills, establish networks with emerging leaders in other regional countries and enhance their understanding of our region’s development challenges.
