Kodungallur: A spa academy is likely to be established in Kerala's cultural capital, Kodungallur, in Trissur district. The academy is set up with the aim to train students as spa specialists, which involves an overall investment of Rs 40 millions. The upcoming spa school is a part of a four-acre health centre coming up in four phases in Kodungallur.
As per sources, the spa academy is the second such institute in Kerala, which is would open on Saturday i.e. February 20, 2010. Further, it would provide a new career option to students. It is owned by Spaveda, a spa management company, which opened its first spa in Kollam. Shine Ahmed, a Director of Spaveda has made the announcement that the spa academy will open on Saturday. Initially, it the school would train 15 students as spa specialists in six months.
The spa specialist course offered has been designed to provide traditional ayurveda and western therapies to create a complete wellness programme. In the second phase, a state-of-the-art gymnasium and yoga study centre will come up. Moreover, jogging tracks and other facilities would come up by 2014.
