Jaipur: This year, an international catholic religious organization, which is into imparting quality education and better known as the Society of Jesus, is about to launch the very prestigious St. Xavier College in Jaipur, which would offer only graduate level programs, from July 2010.
The first St. Xavier school was established by the Jesuits in 1941 in the state, by the support of then rulers. Now after 69 years the esteemed college is the first college set up by the Jesuit community in north India.
The college is about to be set up with an intent to improve the human resource development of the state by raising the level of education in the city through amended curriculum & expert faculty.
Situated in Hathroi Fort area, the educational institute is affiliated to University of Rajasthan and is run by Jaipur Xavier Educational Association, which is an individual registered Body. Initially, the college would offer 60 seats each for B.com, BBA, and BCA. The college intends to offer other graduate level courses in Economics, English Literature, Political Science, among others.
As learnt from Fr. Perekatt, a separate campus for business administration and engineering is also intended to be established. The college director Fr. George Peter, also clarified that the job oriented vocational course offered by Xavier Vocational Institute, which was set up for the underprivileged three years back to provide them with employment, would continue from the same site.
The St. Xavier School has its branches in Behror as well as Bhiwadi in Alwar district.
