Chennai: Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University is planning to introduce a rating system for all its affiliated colleges. It is an attempt for providing a rating to colleges that conduct courses in the field of medical and allied sciences in Tamil Nadu. Rating system will assist the students in choosing their course and college of their choice.
Almost 336 colleges which are affiliated to the MGR University will be assessed on a set of criteria, and according to the performance of the college against all these parameters, colleges will be rated. As per sources, engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu are already having rating system.
Through the criteria of rating system for medical colleges in Tamil Nadu, the reputation of the college, the quality of academic input, student care, and infrastructure and placement opportunities will be judged. In this whole procedure, individual colleges will be rated according to the analysis, and institutions will be asked to improve, if needed. As per sources, if any college is found to be lacking in improvement, that college will be disaffiliated from the university.
