Tamil Nadu To Offer Extra 300 PG Medical Seats From 2011

Chennai: V.K. Subburaj, Health Secretary of Tamil Nadu has announced that the state government of Tamil Nadu is mulling to increase the number of post graduate medical seats in the specialist courses this year. The coming years would definitely see an upsurge in the intake of the medical colleges in the state. He mentioned that the coming academic year would see 300 students admitted in various speciality postgraduate courses.
 
Mr Subburaj has made the announcement while speaking at a function, which was organized to mark the 75th anniversary of the Barnard Institute of Radiology and Oncology at the Government General Hospital. In addition, the health department is ready with its procurement of digital X-rays for 10 medical institutions and some taluka hospitals worth Rs 10 crore. The occasion also saw the launch of two books namely, Diagnostic Atlas of Paediatric Imaging and Radiology Physics, a textbook on radiology safety along with a souvenir of the department.
