Chandigarh: Three new medical colleges will be set up in the state of Haryana, soon. The setting up of the new medical colleges is envisaged to provide better health care to people in the state. Among the three upcoming medical colleges, one will be opened in the memory of Kalpana Chawla, the first Indian-origin woman in space.
Geeta Bhukkal, Haryana's Health and Education Minister, said that the new medical colleges will be opened at Mewat, Khanpur Kalan and Karnal. She also added that the medical college in Karnal will be named in memory of astronaut and space scientist Kalpana Chawla, who was from the city.
Furthermore, Bhukkal also mentioned that the medical college at Khanpur Kalan will be only for women. Moreover, according to the officials, necessary approval for the new institutions will be obtained this year.
